• Examine UP performance for RM locks (StephanUphoff)
  
• POSIX SHM compat in libc in older branches (JohnBaldwin)
  
• Finish removing 'td' from VFS (AttilioRao)
  
• Make uio_resid ssize_t instead of int (KonstantinBelousov)
  
• Audit system call argument review (RobertWatson)
  
• Remove (or at least warn if set) debug.mpsafevfs tunable (EdMaste)
  
• Change API for DEVICE_POLLING to have poll handlers return count of packets processed (EdMaste)
  
  
  

Known issues with 8.0:

• USB keyboards do not supporting polling and thus DDB
• per Sam Leffler: there is an ath(4) problem with WPA2 that is a show-stopper.
  
• libpthread compat for 5.x and 6.x binaries (JohnBaldwin)
  
• gpart command line tool has rough edges (can't use '4m' for example or implicit partition offsets)
• pps(4) needs to move out of ppbus(4) and be a separate driver that also implements ppi(4)
• System V IPC ABI still hasn't been rolled, would be very nice to do for 8.0.
